Barry Andrews, MEP, European Parliament.
Barry Andrews is a member of the DEVE, INTA and FEMM committees in the European Parliament, and chairs the informal grouping of MEPs known as the "SDG Alliance". Highlights of his term include his rapporteurship of the Corporate Sustainable Due Diligence Directive, on behalf of the INTA committee. Prior to becoming an MEP, Barry served as CEO of the humanitarian and development INGO, GOAL. He also served as Director-General of the Institute of International and European Affairs.

This panel will focus on children at risk of, associated with, and formerly associated with armed forces and armed groups and. In particular, the panel will discuss how to best prevent these children’s recruitment and use, and support their reintegration through a Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus perspective. The discussion will highlight ways in which children are negatively impacted by their recruitment and use by armed actors and their differentiated needs based on age, gender and disability status. It will furthermore give concrete recommendations for updating the EU Guidelines on CAAC as well as their Implementation Strategy.

Previously she held the position of Director for Human Resources of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and she headed EEAS Policy Coordination in charge notably of preparing of Foreign Affairs Councils. Before this Belén Martínez Carbonell had worked in various functions related to external relations at the EEAS and the European Commission, including as Head of Division for Andean Countries, Member of the Cabinet of the Trade Commissioner, Member of Cabinet of the Commissioner for External
Relations, Political Counsellor at the EC Delegation to the United States.
