Persons with disabilities are estimated to represent 16% of the world’s population, they are among those most marginalised and exposed in emergencies. Therefore, the objective of the humanitarian talk is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in emergencies and promote meaningful implementation of the IASC Guidelines for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action, which places persons with disabilities at the centre of humanitarian action, both as actors and as affected people.

The session will focus on the key challenges identified in humanitarian contexts, such as ensuring inclusive preparedness and increasing cooperation between local Organisations of Persons with Disabilities and other humanitarian actors, as well as addressing the funding gap. the humanitarian talk will bring concrete examples and will be based on the lessons learnt and good practices identified in Ukraine and other crisis theatres. The practical and operational session will help in identifying gaps and suggesting actionable recommendations for the donors and humanitarian actors.
