Mihaela Zupancic Magovac is Acting Director E in charge of General affairs at DG ECHO, which provides the overall policy coordination and strategy for the Directorate-General, including interinstitutional relations, programming, budgetary, legal and IT support necessary for a good functioning of the entire DG. She has been in this position since the beginning of the year and was Head of Unit dealing with international and inter-institutional relations, and legal framework since January 2020. Previously she was in charge of communication strategy and crisis communications in the same department of the European Commission. She started her career in European institutions in 2005 as Head of the European Commission’s Representation to Slovenia. Prior to her engagement in European institutions, she had a rich career in media as a journalist, foreign correspondent and editor.
